DMCA & Copyright Policy

Last updated 10-29-2026

Households can upload recipe text and photos to their private libraries. We respect copyright and respond to valid notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

About recipes and copyright

A plain list of ingredients is generally not protected by copyright, but recipe instructions, headnotes and photographs often are. Users should keep copied recipes for their household's personal use. Recipe libraries are private to each household and are not published by the Service.

Filing a notice

Send a written notice to our designated agent: [DMCA AGENT NAME / ADDRESS — set before launch] · [email protected]. The notice must include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
  • Identification of the material you claim is infringing and enough information for us to locate it.
  • Your contact information (address, telephone number and email).
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3). We may restore the material unless the complainant tells us they have filed a court action.

Repeat infringers

We will terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
