These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of cookingplan.app (the "Service"), operated by MarKen Technologies, Inc. ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
cookingplan.app helps a household plan meals, build a combined grocery list that accounts for groceries already at home, keep a home inventory, and review ingredient alternatives. It is an organizational tool. It does not give medical, nutritional or food-safety advice — see the Food, Allergy & Diet Notice.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate sign-up information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, to create an account.
- Each account belongs to one active household. A household has one owner and may have editors the owner invites.
- Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
3. Households, owners and editors
The household owner controls membership, preferences, billing, data export and deletion. Editors can manage recipes, meal plans, grocery lists and inventory, but cannot change billing or membership. Invitations are links the owner chooses to share; we do not send invitations on anyone's behalf. Removing a member ends their access immediately.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the recipes, photos, notes and other content you add ("Your Content"). You give us a limited license to host, store, process, display and back up Your Content only as needed to run the Service for your household. We do not use Your Content to train AI models and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Recipes copied from cookbooks or websites may be protected by copyright; keep them for your household's personal use. See the DMCA Policy for how we handle infringement notices.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to follow the Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or end access for violations, with notice where reasonable.
6. Plans and billing
cookingplan.app is in early access: every household gets the Household plan limits for free and no payment is collected. Before paid plans start we will update these Terms and the Billing Policy, tell you in the app, and show prices clearly before any purchase. Nobody is charged automatically, a free plan will remain available, and households that joined during early access get 3 months of the paid plan free.
7. Optional AI recipe import
If enabled, AI can turn pasted recipe text or a recipe photo into a draft for you to review. Drafts can be wrong. Nothing an AI drafts is saved as a recipe until a person confirms it, and AI never changes inventory, quantities or diet settings. See the AI Transparency notice.
8. Calculations and food decisions
Grocery quantities, package rounding, inventory balances and substitution suggestions are calculated from what you and your household enter and from our reviewed ingredient catalog. They can only be as accurate as that information. You are responsible for checking labels, allergens, freshness and food safety before buying, cooking or serving food.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available and your data safe, but the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue the Service we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for allergic reactions, illness, spoiled food, or purchasing decisions made using the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
11. Ending your use
You may stop using the Service at any time. A household owner can export household data and delete the household from Household settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or put other users or the Service at risk.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING-LAW STATE — set before launch], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
13. Changes to these Terms
We will post changes here with a new updated date. For material changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the changes.
